Music has given us so much that we are unable to thank it. When the name of music or only music comes we use to think about Instruments,Singers,Music directors, Composers, Lyricists, Musicians but music is just beyond of it. If anyone wants to go into the depth of music he has to feel the soul of music that is all types of Sargams, Thaats, Ragas etc. One more important or I would say the most important thing of music is to feel the emotions of songs, ragas etc. Today most of the people learn music in an constant and heartless way. Everything goes good while they sing a song or play anything on anytype of instrument but their
performence contains no any emotions which other one could feel, and real emotions means direct contact with God which is tough to have. So, here it is clear that music is a wire of conecting feelings of one to other.
Here in our Bollywood music industry many musicians and singers born who proved the meaning of music some names are Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Rahul Dev Burman etc.

Today we are going to tell you about the legendary actor Ashok Kumar. He was born on 13 october 1911. His real name is Kumudlal Ganguly.  He was honoured in 1988 with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest national award for cinema artists, by the Government of India and also received the Padma Bhushan the same year in 1998 for his contributions to Indian cinema. He is considered to be one of India's finest ever actors, playing leading, negative and character roles with equal panache.
He was oldest in his two brothers named  Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar and a sister named Sati Devi.
Reverently called Dadamoni (affectionate term for elder brother), Kumudlal Ganguly was born in Bhagalpur and educated at Presidency College of the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, where he studied to become a lawyer. However, his heart was not into his law studies. Ganguly was more interested in cinema, in which he dreamt of working as a technician.

It was the lure of cinema and the presence of his brother in Law Sashadhar Mukherjee in a fairly senior position in Bombay Talkies which prompted Kumudlal Ganguly to move to Bombay (Mumbai) in the mid 30s, where he started off as a laboratory assistant in Bombay Talkies, one of the biggest film studios of that era.
He was a homeopathy practitioner and has done so many miracle cures.
These qualities show that he was an all time great personality.

Ashok Kumar has been the doyen of the male actors of the Hindi film world, with a career that started in the 1930s and lasted to the early 2000s. The one thing that was the most remarkable about him was his presence on the screen, and the fact that he could make the viewers feel that he was thoroughly enjoying himself. There are many actors who are natural, whose performance just blends into the situation without any kinks. One can think of Sanjeev Kumar, Guru Dutt, Geeta Bali, and many more. Their performance always seems so effortless as they work through their roles on the screen. But with Ashok Kumar, there is this added element of having fun, and even conveying to the audience that he is simply enjoying doing the role.

Anuraag (1972) is one of the movies that I saw on the big screen as a child. I have since re visited the movie on disc, but there is a striking memory of one scene from the first time I saw this movie. The song “ram kare babuaa, hamaar phulwaa ko hamri umar lag jaaye ho”, is sung by Rajesh Khanna on screen, as a birthday song in a family gathering. Ashok Kumar is also in the scene and he dances with Rajesh Khanna, with a small drum in his hand. And the thought that struck me as I saw the expression on Ashok Kumar’s face, wow, this man is so thoroughly enjoying himself, and not just performing.

Aashirwaad (1969) directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, is a very poignant movie about a father’s love for his daughter. I have recounted the story briefly in an earlier post ‘Ek Thha Bachpan’ on this blog. Here is another wonderful song from this movie. This is a play song for children, for playing the game of “rail gaadi”. The song is sung by Ashok Kumar himself, in his own inimitable style. The pace of the song and words almost remind me of ‘Breathless’ (Shankar Mahadevan). And guess the lyricist. It is Harindranath Chattopadhyay. Harindranath also had a role in this film, as an old farmer in the same village where Ashok Kumar is the zamindar. Harindranath is also known as a poet, and especially a poet for children. The racy, bullet train composition is by Vasant Desai.
As one views this song, and Ashok Kumar’s performance, the fun element simply stands out. He is not just singing and acting in the movie, he is simply loving doing it. So click on the link, and get ready for a breathless train ride that travels at the speed of sound, literally. :) :)

Nazir Hussain is an Indian Film Star of all time. He had worked in more than 400 movies and is also known as Pitamah of Bhojpuri Cinema because he had worked in many early Bhojpuri Films and most of them were hit for people. He was born on 15 May 1922 in the village of Usia in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Not many know that he was in Subash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army (INA), which became the reason for his entry into Bollywood.
Nazir Hussain's father Shahabzad Khan was a guard in the Railways and Hussain grew up in Lucknow. He worked in the British army for a short time but came under the influence of Subhas Chandra Bose and joined the Indian National Army (INA). In those days Bimal Roy was planning a film on Bose and the INA. To give it an authentic touch he was scouting for INA members to help him. Nazir Hussain's personality and impressive voice perhaps helped Bimal Roy to notice him. However, Hussain was reluctant to work in films as he had no such background. After much persuasion and cajoling from friends and colleagues he relented. 'Pehla Aadmi' released in 1950 launched him to stardom and he became a permanent fixture in Bimal Roy's movies.
He had played iconic roles in many Bollywood movies such as - Kati Patang, Jewel Thief, Parakh, Khamoshi, Kashmir ki Kali etc.
He is now of 92 but he is a lovely and respectable person forever.

Raja Harishchandra (Marathi: राजा हरिश्चंद्र Rājā Hariścandra) is a 1913 Indian silent film, directed and produced by Indian icon Dadasaheb Phalke, and is the first full-length Indian feature film. The film was based on the legend of Raja Harishchandra, recounted in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Although a silent film with intertitles in English and Hindi, its cast and staff was Marathi and it is therefore often regarded as the first Marathi film as well.

The film marked a historic benchmark in the film industry in India. Only one print of the film was made and shown at the Coronation Cinematograph. It was a commercial success and paved the way for more such films.

Raja harishchandra was a remarkable film for all time not only because it was the first film of indian cinema but also  because it was the film which covers the story of the king who never lies to anyone.
We also know Raja Harishchandras Satyavadi Harishchandra because of this quality.
This is an Inspirational Film and everybody specially teenagers and children should watch the copies of this film to understand the value of truthfulness and kindness in life and should salute the man who made this outstanding silent movie.

Kishore Kumar (born Abhas Kumar Ganguly 4 August 1929 – 13 October 1987) was an Indian film playback singer, actor, lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenplay writer and scriptwriter. He is in general considered one of the most successful & greatest playback singers of the film industry. He sang in many Indian languages including Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Oriya, and Urdu. He has also sung in private albums in several languages especially in Bengali which are noted as all time classics. He won 8 Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and holds the record for winning the most Filmfare Awards in that category. He was awarded the "Lata Mangeshkar Award" by the Madhya Pradesh government and from that year onwards, the Madhya Pradesh Government initiated a new award called the "Kishore Kumar Award" for contributions to Hindi cinema.

The Man who popularised Yodelling

Kishore Kumar a name that is synonymous with the yodelling that started out in the music world many many years back when only classically oriented singers were giving the playback in the films.

For people who do not know much about Kishore Kumar and probably have heard a few great songs of his and hum them in the pastime being thoroughly ignorant about the singer.

His Birth and His family

Kishore Kumar was born on 4th August 1929 in a middle class home at Khandwa. He was the youngest in the family. Kishore Kumar’s father, whose name was Kunjhalal Gangoly, a lawyer by profession, was a modest man. Kishore’s mother Gauri Devi, hailed from a wealthy family and had received an education denied in those days to most girls. Of the four children, Ashok Kumar was the eldest, born on 13 October 1911 and was twenty years older than Kishore . He was followed by a daughter who was about 15 years older to Kishore. Her name was Sati Devi. The next was a boy, Anoop Kumar – who was about 5 years older than Kishore, who was the youngest of all.

His Childhood

As a young boy, Kishore was full of mischief and pranks. He loved to play and almost never tired of seeking amusements . He constantly thought up antics to play on his sister and his brother Anoop Kumar. Kishore was very close to his sister, who appreciated his sense of humour. Though the interaction with his eldest brother was minimal as Ashok Kumar left home to study law after graduating in science. He met his brother occasionally when Ashok used to come to visit the family.
Though Kishore went to a prominent school at Khandwa, he was never interested and he hated reading books and having to learn under a discipline that seemed to curb his natural steam.

The Influence

Kishore Kumar used to sing for his parents and they would give him money as a small token. His father often asked him to sing Ashok Kumar’s song from the movie Achut Kanya.(Main ban ki chidya .. bolun re..). Kishoreda was good at imitating and this was near to perfect when it came to singing K.L.Saigal’s songs. K.L.Saigal turned out to be his mentor and meeting him was his wish at the top of his mind. Sadly, the meeting with Saigal did not take place, for Saigal died soon after Kishore’s arrival in Mumbai.

The move into the filmdom

Ashok Kumar thought it was best for Kishoreda to try and pick up acting by initially doing small roles in films and he also considered that just singing was not lucrative as acting. Kishore knew that he was cut out to do the romantic hero. He felt was just an ordinary looking person. In his heart, Kishore resolved to try and pursue a singing career, which he was confident about. He was rejected many times on the pretext of “Your voice is no good; us mein woh cheez nahin hai.’
He was offered a small role in the movie Ziddi and it happened in the making of this movie. Khemchand Prakash heard Kishore Kumar sing and was impressed. He told Ashok Kumar that the boy (Kishore) had a future as a singer. Khemchand went ahead and gave a song to Kishore who executed it in a typical Saigal style..Marne ki duayen lyon maangon…. What impressed Khemchand was the skill with which Kishore held the tune.

The early times with the Burmans

Sr.Burman was visiting Ashok Kumar when he heard Kishore sing in his bath. When he was told who was singing, he decided to wait and meet Kishore. He complimented his singing and told him that he should develop a style of his own. In his own words ‘Saigal is undoubtedly a great singer, but there not much sense in imitating him; a singer needs to have a distinct style that is his own.’ How true it was what he said.
What launched KK as a hit was Aradhana with his Mere Sapnon Ki Rani under the music direction of S.D.Burman. The rest is history…
